68.6 Have You Ever Cheated on Your Partner?

It is very hard to ‘cheat’ when you have an understanding between two adults within a marriage. However, I do think that somehow the rest of the world thinks about these thing differently than most Americans tend to. In France, for example, extramarital affairs are de rigueur. In Japan, if a man does not have a mistress, his wife can very easily be led to believe that there is something wrong with him. Among the Sidhe, affairs are also not only permissible but expected of both husbands and wives. So, I can safely say that there is nothing wrong with my husband, myself or our marriage; no matter what culture we might find ourselves in, be it Human or Fae.

Yes, I know, there is a certain moral argument toward whether or not being with another person other than your spouse constitutes infidelity. I do not personally believe that it does. I have had other lovers, all of whom Sebastien has known about, and I know he has and has had mistresses as well. The only thing that would constitute cheating would to be to lie or to deny what is patently obvious. When one has a paramour or a Mistress, it does not make any party within that arrangement wrong or a whore – unless an untruth is introduced. I have not once ever seen the expenses for any of Sebastien’s mistresses. There is no need for me to. Their needs are provided for in whatever arrangement he has made with them, and the ladies do know what the expectation is. I do not hear him taking late night calls from any of them. His time away is his own, he has no need to explain. I do not spy on him, and he certainly does not spy on me when I am with whomever it is that I am seeing. There is no need.

There is only one man whom Sebastien has forbidden me ever to see intimately again, and that is the Comte de la Ferre, Oliver – otherwise known as Athos. That is not to say that discussion has not come up, nor that the temptation to defy that edict has not reared its head. Quite the contrary. It has. And I have and Athos has successfully (thus far) avoided such an ill-advised entanglement. I think if I were to trespass and go against my husband’s advisement, I would be crossing that line into deception. I am not willing to do that. And to be entirely truthful, after all that I have been through in re-establishing my marriage and the hardship and cost involved, it has definitely kept any such desires well in check.

Munday Prompt: Realism

1. How important is realism to you when you roleplay or write?

As a writer, I think it is very important. Even when you are dealing with Fantasy or what most would consider supernatural topics, you have to have at least a little grounding in what is ‘real’ vs. what no intelligent reader could possibly suspend their disbelief through. I take it seriously enough that I am willing to do the necessary research, interview people, do a little hands-on experimentation all in the name of putting a more ‘real’ experience down on the page. Thankfully, I am old enough and have experienced enough of life to actually be able to know a fair amount of the time what I am actually talking about.

2. What steps do you take to ensure a realistic character concept or setting?

This is again about research, and sometimes the legwork can take a great deal longer than what some who write more flash-type of fiction have time for. Knowing social taboos of a particular region or era, being conscious of the colloquialisms of the day, knowing the proper way to prepare certain herbs, the medicinal properties of those herbs, how long it takes to travel from one point to another, all of these things lend to the realism of the post. I think I owe it to my readers, and certainly to my muses to have actually done that level of research in order to put out the best material that I can. Continue reading

Muse Academy Week 13 – Inquiry

Muse Name: Fanny Fae
Fandom: Original Character
Prompt Number: Muse Inquiries 13
Title: Canon
Warnings/Disclaimers: None
Word Count: N/A

We all know that our cars need regular servicing, in order to keep running well.

It’s time for your muse to get put up on the lift and given his/her 50,000 mile tune up. Anything stuck? Need to change some filters? Have you worn out the brakes? How’s the engine? Purring like a kitten or sputtering?

Physically. Emotionally. Communities. Storylines. Take a good, hard, critical look at your muse, both as an independent entity and where they are in their game, and evaluate what needs to be tuned up.

As a matter of fact, yes. There are some things with Fanny that I definitely need to adjust and tweak. This comes at a time when she is on the verge of actually getting written in book form. I’ve spent so many years on her, the realisation has come that it is just time to put it in order, make an outline, add the pertinent things that make her who she is – particularly the magickal aspects of who she is and just go with it.

Music Meme from Just About Everyone

Warning: By posting this up you are subjecting yourself to other peoples tastes in music. First rule of Play List is do not get offended by the music people share with you. Your cup of tea could be someone else’s leafy water.

Warning: By posting this up should be willing to seek out the same meme on your friends list and give them some music too!

01. How it works: Place this post up in your journal.
02. Fellow friends list members [and their writers too] are to then in turn comment to your post with music.
03. Said music is shared via an upload that you can download, or a link to lyrics for the connection challenged that reminds them of you.
04. When you comment leave the song title and artist in the subject line so that if someone else thought of the same song they don’t have to send it to you again, 😉
05. With enough people and enough variety of songs you should end up with a lovely playlist inspired by those that know you pretty well [or so you hope].
06. Download and enjoy!

– Thursday Drabble

Has your muse ever had a thought so dark, so macabre that they never dare share it with anyone? Conversely, has anyone ever made a vile threat towards you muse out of anger, frustration, honest to God malice?

To be Unseelie, is to in fact be one of the ‘Un-Blessed”. What most would consider to be dark, macabre or otherwise unspeakable are quite often things which we partake of regularly. Do we advise the world at large of our proclivities? Do we particularly care at all about who this may shock or who might be put off by our tendencies? Why would we even concern ourselves with the discomfiture of others?

The short answer is that we do not.

We feast on pain, we take great delight in the scenes upon which the faint of heart cannot look. I know what it is to be drunk upon the tortured lamentations of the fools in denial of the nightmare. I know what it is to be the cause of the nightmare – its origination and source. I have taken it into me and I am wed to it.

As for threats: some may very well try to make good on them. However, I sincerely doubt that many outside of my own realm could ever truly bring them to fruition.

Prompt # 284. Talk about a time you were forced out of something.

Madame:

I implore you to come and join me. Bring troops, bring yourself. Do not leave your realm undefended, but sway Lord Jareth if you can (though I suspect that is not to be from my intelligences). I have need of you in these hard times. I have need of your guidance and your faith.

Your King

I read the missive from Nuada’s own hand, sealed with his seal over and over again. I caressed each written word with a gentle forefinger, a stab of excitement reverberated through my chest. There was no time to lose. I sent the Commanders of my armies to assemble the troops that we did have. Nuada, needed my help. I could not refuse, but without the assistance from Jareth and his Goblin troops, the cause would be lost. Surely he would not cede them to me, I thought, until I agreed to his terms. With that in mind I took pen in hand and wrote out a note to the Goblin King in my own hand. When I had finished I handed it to Kazim, the Lord of my Treasury.

“You are to make certain that our Island stands. I am entrusting the treasury to your wisdom,” I said handing him the document with my freshly set seal upon it, “see that the armies of his Majesty are well compensated. However, there is more than just gold that must be safeguarded Kazim.”

Kazim bowed deeply at the waist, his black skin reflecting in the low light of my chamber. “I understand, my Lady. Trust that we will keep the portals as well as your personal effects safe. Are you sure that you would not rather that I send at least some of it to another place for safekeeping?” Trepidation was etched both in his face but he managed to keep it out of his voice.

“That will not be necessary,” I said shaking my head, “I have faith in both you and Jareth. And even if I have to put myself on the line, Kazim, we cannot afford to lose this war. Nuada has sent for me and I must go.” Continue reading
