With regards to the 9/09/09’s metaphysical symbology & numerology that is supposedly going on today: Please note that I am by no means any expert at this, btw. People need to learn a little bit more about things before they go off in an occultic and metaphysical tailspin about the “energy of the nine”. Even the stupid TV stations are getting into it. Who would have thought that it would happen a mere five or ten years ago?
Numerologically the entire number must be calculated. (Too many are ditching the “2” out of the equation.) 9 + 9 + 2 + 9= 29 which is reduced down to 11/2.
11/2 and 9 are not the same energy. I don’t care if you cover your ears, shut your eyes tight and sing, “LA! LA! LA! I am not listening to you, Fanny! Today is a NINE! See?! I’m gonna click my heels NINE TIMES and prove you wrong!!”

Oh, I agree with GMT Unfortunately, in this stupid-bass-ackward place on the globe they seem to think they have to go by their National Atomic Clock, or some such nonsense!
But will you actually be IN those timezones at the precise moment necessary. See, that is the question you need to ask. Now other than folding space, cutting doorways through the seven realms of existence or on the off chance that Mr. Scott will actually beam you there at the precise moment (He’s good, but I don’t know that he has ever been *that* good!) Hmmm….what are the chances? ;))
I have a much simpler solution: I could just stop my watch. Then it’s always a 9 by my personal calendar. On the slight downside, it will never, ever be lunchtime. Um. Good for dieting? :p

You’d think given that measuring and time are kind of my Mother’s things, and 9 is one of Her numbers, that I’d be all excited.
But I find the Gregorian calendar too arbitrary to make much of a fuss over. It’s just sort of an amusing date to me, like Pi Day or 12/21/2012 😀
(But maybe it will distract the media a bit from 9/11…)
I would agree about the Gregorian calendar just being too arbitrary. And as for 2012 – I just read and did a review for Amazon on a very good book called “The 2012 Story: The Myths, Fallacies, and Truth Behind the Most Intriguing Date in History” by John Major Jenkins. This guy has been researching it for years and what people think that the Mayan calendar says is really not what it says at all.
People need to stop trying to find reasons to get into a tizzy about something! 😛
What does 9 mean anyway?
*deep breath* My interpretation is very simplistic, but hopefully not as fatalistic as some of the chicken littles running around today squawking about the date! To quote my friend Valerie Stilwell who is a professional Numerologist, “It’s all good. All of the Numbers are good! It’s all about what you decide to do with the energy.” 🙂
9’s are about completion of a cycle. 9 can be very difficult energy – think of the 9 of swords, think of the sacrifices of Odin on the Tree that he made in order to get the Runes. So while it seems very nightmarish to go through all of that, it, that level of sacrifice does give you a great deal of insight into oneself and into the situation on the whole. 9 when approached in a balanced manner can really have a great deal of creativity and altruism attached to it. Think of the 9 of Pentacles or the 9 of Cups in the Tarot – which btw, is considered “The Wish Card”. 🙂
Unfortunately, today, there are scads of people who are going off in a tizzy that it is somehow like 2012 Jr. or something and I have to shake my head at that kind of thinking. Why do people hand over their Power so easily and so willingly?! It’s just not sensible at all. We make our own destinies. The energy, the numbers, the divinatory devices – they are all tools. Hopefully one knows how to wield the tool rather than be wielded by the tool itself!
In Kemetic thought, as far as I have been able to tell, 9 is a stand-in for “all” (the Nine Bows, Nine Gods, the Ennead, etc.)
UPG: it’s Nebt-Het’s number because it is “final”, a border… at least before you have to use another digit. 😀
The consensus over in my personal journal is that it’s a slow news day.
That said, when the news reports that Cthulhu is rising up from R’hley, then I’ll sit up and pay attention to the date *wink*
